“Toot” to Americans is another word for fart. I believe they use toot because it fits in with the Mastodon animal theme. Which makes sense. But when the whole twitter migration started, it was off-putting to a lot of people.

Try it out! It has taken off pretty well. Lots of big names from Twitter have moved over.

I use Ivory on iOS. It’s not free but I love it. It’s basically a port of Tweetbot. Then there’s Mammoth, which is free and great. I believe there’s an official app as well, but I haven’t tried it.

Mastodon.social is the largest instance, but it’s similar to Lemmy in that it’s federated. It also uses ActivityPub.

Today is a good day to join because it’s #FollowFriday. You can search that hashtag and find a lot of people to follow.

Oh heck yeah that’s right. I remember when tweetbot got the boot from Twitter and they made the ivory app now. I’m happy to pay for an app made by Tapbots… they know how to make an app. Checking it out now.
