The miners are not Peruvian nationals. It takes a lot of capital to sneak into the Peruvian jungle and start mining.
I’m a bit dubious about the jetpacks but the rest - that miners are trying to scare Indigenous locals - is legit, and it’s far from the first time this has happened.
I mean they’re cartels mining gold in vast untamed stretches of jungle. Honestly scouting out illegal gold mining sites in that kind of situation is one of the only practical uses I can imagine for a jetpack today

Obviously they doesn’t want sand to get everywhere in Dubai.
I’ve never even seen one in practical use in Dubai. The most I’ve seen are prototypes of lab designs.
