Just got a high refresh rate monitor (PG248QP) and it makes a high pitched noise when I set it to 500hz. Anyone else have this problem with this or other high refresh rate monitors?

A bad capacitor is the most likely culprit.

Send it back to the manufacturer for warranty, would not recommend replacing the capacitor yourself if you don’t know what you are doing.

Yea I haven’t found a review mention this noise. Going to get a replacement.

might be a faulty psu or something.
    better get it replaced.

i never had a >60hz monitor, so talk that with a grain of salt. but this doesn’t sound (badum, tss…) right. better get in touch with the seller rather sooner than later.

Yes. Turning down the refresh rate from 165 to 144 greatly reduced it.

I thought it was because the display was factory overclocked and was meant to run at 144 in the first place

It wasn’t set but it showed up as available when setting a frequency from the os. I just assumed it was an overclock since it uniquely made a noticeable noise and iirc the monitor was listed as 144hz when it was first listed pre launch

Could it be a cooling fan inside the panel? My lg oled monitor has one. Maybe it runs higher when the monitor is set to higher hz since maybe that geberates more heat? Just a guess

The fan makes a noise too but it’s bearable. I have an older monitor (PG27UQ) that has a terrible fan noise at times.
