Been playing too much Baldur's Gate 3 recently
Damn what would he have done with a 1?
scene of Denethor running off the cliff while on fire
From what I’ve seen ing bg3 a nat 1 or 20 dont make a difference for conversation checks, it’s all just pass/fail
afaik RAW there are no crits in skill checks. Only do and do not. Not too familiar with 5th Ed. though.
You are correct about RAW. A lot of DMs will still do something special with them but it’s a table by table thing.
Yea that might just be a DM specific thing at my table, stuff like a nat 1 causing you to puke on the king instead of kiss the ring is fun sometimes
Please roll D100 on the Hurl Chunks subtable.
If you get nat1 in BG3 then no bonuses count. So let’s say you have +3 bonus from Charisma and need to hit 4. If you throw 1 it’s just fail because the +3 bonus won’t count.
Nat20 is automatic success regardless of bonuses (even negative ones if you have disadvantage like - 1 from low intelligence).
I feel like the game should just remove the dice altogether and just initiate combat every time I talk to someone.
