  • Too bad the applications were written on COBOL while I was in high school (Some sarcasm). Even to enter my time I have to use the old school IE browser because Edge can’t render the site properly and it has to be virtualized because windows 10 can’t launch it correctly once something works corporations are slow to change we’d have to get new apps made tested and then internally reviewed then issue new devices and see pushback from older employees who always sabotage new device and software launches. There’s a woman still working on a Windows 98 machine that has to be air-gapped and manually brought emails and files by hand because she threatens to quite if she is forced to update (She does have an obscure PHD and makes the company tons of money with her analysis work so they appease her)

  • Yeah pretty much but it sounds pleasant to me though an economic cleansing in a sense if an area is economically uninhabitable it shouldn’t be supported by those that are some states will fail sure if there is economic value another state will utilize the space or form. I imagine the Dakota’s Carolina’s Virginias etc coming together to be more efficient smaller states like Rhode Island would also have to get creative or cease to exist. Those citizens would be allowed to move about the country and find jobs in areas that can support them working raising our economic output in the long run and ending crap like swimming pools in backyards in phoenix or Vegas.

Yeah but it took the two strongest motivators in life to get me to do anything. The will to live and procreate had my father not threatened me and if I had never met my wife I wouldn’t be where I am. I spent more time my first year of college researching VA disability and unemployment benefits than I did studying.

  • I don’t really vote at the federal level anyway I focus on state and local elections that have more impact on my life. As a christian I don’t feel confident in my ability to answer to god why I picked a certain candidate at that level which is another reason I favor more localized government so politicians are humans in the community again.

I wouldn’t consider it bleak I consider myself lazy I think it’s part of being human to be like water and go the path of least resistance. I was a loser until my dad put a shotgun in my face and said I was joining the Marine Corp went to college after to smoke weed and party met my wife there and only by wanting to get laid did I start getting good grades and applying to internships to keep her impressed started out in consulting in the late 90s hated every minute of it but after having kids and wanting nothing but the best for them I went for promotions worked around the clock and made partner 11 years later. Most people I talk to are the same way we hate work but have some sort of golden handcuff that keeps them going. I’d much rather just do nothing and if circumstances were different I’d be doing nothing and be happy I’m happy now as well but the cost of this happiness is much higher.

    Uh yes it was?

“You think 150 million people in this country are just too lazy to make ends meet?”

To which I replied yes with some caveats as your statement is too broad and meant to steer a conversation into a specific direction without addressing other issues that do a disservice to mentally disabled or handicapped people that are perceived as being lazy when they typically are harder working in my experience.

  • I’d move the US to work more like the EU. Conservatives could move to conservative areas and liberals could move to liberal areas with more power to pass things they want to see in their area. Some states would be able to address climate change and handle immigration in any way they want. Others could focus on safety, firearms, low taxes and personal freedoms. Each state would be more responsible for balancing its own budget and planning for emergencies. Without FEMA etc if a hurricane strike Florida they best have had their emergency fund ready and or get help from trading partners otherwise your out of luck. It’s like a modern HOA living in one gets you better roads, amenities etc if they mismanaged it then taxes go up people leave and they redo their books to incentivize the next generation back. America would become more nomadic as people try to strike the best deal every few decades while some political die hards would stick to a state for certain reasons maybe abortion laws or being in an unregulated industry local to that specific state.

Some of them yes others may not have the intellectual/mental capability or physical issues that prevent it as well. Most people who want and work to get out of poverty will get to the lower middle class which is a better life than 99% of humans have ever had.
