As you mentioned in your post, it’s almost impossible to pick just 5 favorite singular works… so here are some of the top active artists that I currently adore (in no particular order)
- Guido Llordi, kinetic painter
- Tomislav Topić, muralist and fabric installations
- Smallwhitemonster, painter
- Seontae Hwang, backlit lightbox art
- Pieter Van Hooydonck/Kras Glass, stained glass artist
- Stevie Shao, muralist and painter
- Aura Terrariums, stained glass artist
… this list will probably change by next week
As an American, I unfortunately agree
I mean … Do any of the laffy taffy flavors taste like the real fruits?
Some of mine have been adapted from books, so I specified the media:
Movie: Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Series
TV: Under the Dome
TV: Kim’s Convenience
TV: The OA
TV: Ponies (maybe they renew for a second season 🤞🏼)
Bonus- Shows that lasted a little too long:
Orange is the New Black, Westworld
I’m pretty sure a lot of it was the specific manager I worked for. I was getting in trouble for the most ridiculous things… they got mad at me for writing hey in emails instead of hello or hi, got mad at me when my teammates didn’t do something correctly, got in trouble for working 7 minutes overtime by accident (then got in trouble for taking lunch between back-to-back meetings), spoke poorly about my teammates when they weren’t around and would not communicate expectations until after I did something wrong. Additionally, I was told I’m too anxious when providing feedback on the things I was hired to provide feedback on, and there was no work/life balance. Maybe I’ve been blessed to have better jobs before this, but I didn’t know a workplace could be so toxic
This email reminds me of the literal month that I lasted at the Costco world headquarters… Never again

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a good Documentary/movie that would break conservative without demonizing them on a personal level?
8·9 天前I would highly recommend Blue Bayou, it’s about a Korean-American man in Louisiana raised by adoptive parents, but never got the proper paperwork to be considered a citizen. Amazing film, had me tearing up.
But she’ll also probably be distracted the whole flight by said bf, giving you a window seat and hopefully a buffer between you and everyone else
Wait… That’s not my mom!
…just like his fugly mother
I think one huge missed opportunity is within sharing stuff from lemme… Other sites will allow you to share media, often with a banner or link back to the original content or source. For lemme I download the media and there’s no branding or linkage that brings you back to the platform (at least not through the Boost app)

11·2 个月前The fear instilled in half these commenters really shows how effective this domestic terrorism from ICE really is (unfortunately)
So much for “united we stand”…

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How does internet advertising work? Where is all the money coming from? More...
27·2 个月前A few things to consider in the world of marketing and advertising…
When reviewing the number of views that an ad gets, there’s no simple way to separate bot traffic from genuine impressions. This is due to privacy restrictions.
Generally, the marketing team will post an ad… A few weeks go by and they report the number of impressions (views) the ad got to upper management… upper management is impressed and continues to approve budgets to make more ads.
Sometimes ads are about driving awareness and not necessarily making sales. If you’re familiar with the new soda in the convenience store you’re more likely to buy it because of the ad you saw about it last week.
A good (even great) return on investment in sales is between 2-3%, meaning if you show your ad to 100 people and get two clicks on it, those are considered good statistics to continue to market your product.
Sauce: 13 years in marketing for both small and large companies

3·2 个月前This is really helpful as someone who’s been in the job market for wayyyy too long (and someone who has plenty of soft skills) What do you look for in resumes now? Specifically, what skills or verbiage?
Not quite it was less horror and moreso helping a character… it’s possible the characters were animals dressed as humans
There’s a reason I’m on Lemmy and not on Reddit anymore 🫣
I have one of these! My memory is pretty hazy but he’s everything I remember about it: I played it in about 2003-04, pc rom game, point and click style where you were either trying to help find a series of items in a house or solve a mystery in a house? This was a kids game with a lot of shades of light blue if I remember correctly… Not a scary game, was in the first person, and I don’t remember being in a team of other characters. I remember renting it from my local library a hefty number of times.

I beg to differ… I quit smoking 7 months ago and have gained 20 pounds since then. 🥲 I think smoking was messing with my sense of smell
