Roland Emmerich halt…
Started playin monster train. It scratches the itch of finishing something in 1-2 hours and while they’re very similar I feel like it’s a bit more forgiving than “slay the spire”.
There was a British (I think?) TV show called “misfits” that was about some teenagers getting superpowers. One episode they fought against somebody that could control milk and laughed at him for his power - until he murdered them all by using the milk from their breakfast to stop their hearts. Great show in my memory.
I think it laid a lot of groundwork for books that came later. But as you said, not every book is for everybody.
This was the first book of him I read, but I will definitely check out his other works if they’re all like this!
I just finished Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. Great book, that not only coined terms like “avatar” and “metaverse” (for better or worse), but is also really well written. It somehow manages to find a tone that is consistent for the dystopian worldbuilding, the silly and self-aware things that happen in the world, and the philosophical aspect dealing with culture, religion and free will. Highly recommend!
I loved those books! In the beginning second person felt extremely weird, but the “resolution” of why it is written that way made so much sense that it made the books even more enjoyable IMO.
They are governing Afghanistan, why wouldn’t they have a Twitter?
Plus, even ISIS used Twitter (and maybe still does?). It’s a good propaganda tool.
I never noticed that its actually the flag colors! It’s also available in every country with an Ikea, which is all of europe, north america, oceania and large parts of asia.
