If worker-owned workplaces still operate within a market, there will still be pressure to compete with other companies. People can still come up with new ideas to compete and change can still happen.

My guess is it’s the process that controls the tiny button in the status bar that takes you back to the previous app you were in.

Bluesky uses their own AT Protocol, which supports federation but is separate from ActivityPub.
