Lemmy is no different than reddit when it comes to mods abusing their power. People here think they’re all different and better than, but that’s just because they haven’t had an independent thought and non-conforming to Lemmy opinion so they don’t have to deal with it.
Remember: race is a social construct …until you can use it to criticize white people, then those people are white and bad and it’s objective reality, there’s no “social construct” anymore.

This is the kind of shit that makes people (correctly) say “both sides”. Both sides are racist, both sides think their racism is justified, both sides completely overlook their own hypocrisy on the issue. The only change is which race they start the discussion with.
This is very cherry-picked issues they’ve included here though. Yes, of course no one with a brain is thinking of these issues specifically when they say that. Both sides are bad, both are hypocritical, both break rules and want their rule breaking to be ignored when it’s to their advantage. One side is worse, doesn’t mean both sides aren’t bad.

Which is why it’s dumb to try to negate a thing like crime by saying it’s a social construct. The language we are using to talk about it being a social construct is a social construct. Literally YOU are a social construct, but here you are, worried about “wage theft” which is also a social construct. So do things being a social construct matter or not because if not, lets stop trying to negate anything we don’t like by calling it a social construct, and if so lets apply it evenly and take it to it’s logical conclusion. I would say “reject modernity, embrace monkee” but rejection, modernity, embracement, and monkee are all social constructs.
Crime is a social construct = wage theft is a social construct, and according to the law of internet arguments something being a social construct means it doesn’t matter and/or it’s dumb to complain about it, so don’t worry, it’s all fine.
Calling it the patriarchy has very negative tone towards men, and basically blames men for the problem, In my experience, this issue isn’t created by men and saying it’s because of the patriarchy is just a form of victim-blaming. Even when trying to advocate for men feminism somehow manages to be sexist.

I never feel pushed into these role of only being able to express angry and horny except on sites like reddit and by people who use sites like reddit. IRL my male friends are talk openly with each other. It’s only a problem when some “hot girl” or SJW type finds out about men having feelings and shames them for it. “The patriarchy” is not the problem. Blaming men for the problems men face is just a form of victim-blaming. It is exactly the kind of thing creating this problem to begin with.
I agree people should support men more, but like this post being here, reddit, and tumblr is stupid. Here, reddit, and tumblr are the exact places creating hostile unfavorable environments where it’s ok to hate men. Almost all of the man-bashing and non-caring for my well-being I’ve ever experienced comes from sites like these, and the kind of people who use sites like these when it’s IRL stuff. This still ignores that if it’s a social construct for one group, it’s a social construct for all groups. You can’t simultaneously use it as reason to excuse certain groups (based on race ironically enough) accountability, while absolving others of any responsibility. Either race matters or it doesn’t, pick ONE. If it doesn’t matter than STFU about “white males” all the time.
