Haggis with neeps and tatties and a little gravy is amazing. So peppery and satisfying. I know it sounds shite, but genuinely one of my favourite meals. Would take it over a Sunday roast any day. A lamb roast is excellent, mind you.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is it possible to find a friend or partner on Lemmy?
1·3 days agoHey! Don’t leave out those of us kicked off Reddit. Actually that’s maybe not a great Badge of Honour, socially speaking…
Why is there a camera?

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Sweet tea is one of the worst beverages to ever existEnglish
1·6 days agoUK sweet tea is just regular tea, sugar and a splash of milk. It’s awesome, although I usually take my tea without sugar unless I’m hungover or tired.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are you confident you could win an argument about?
8·9 days agoHonestly nothing. The more I read and listen about any topic that can be debated the more unsure I am of my stance. I’m pretty sure that billionaires simply shouldn’t be allowed to hoard so much money, but I’d probably fold under a multi-layered, informed rebuttal - it’s more a gut feeling that i’d likely fail to articulate.
I love the cautious, super-sensitive pre-amble before the gently framed question! It’s almost as if this whole topic is an absolute tinder-box doused in aviation fuel.
I find it a little comical that even folk that are clearly trying to be as on-board as they can, to the extent that nothing they say could be remotely seen as critical of trans people, all must do their tippy-toe dance before they get to the point.
End of the day, we’re on an anonymous platform that has a higher percentage of trans folk than most. If we could get to a place where honest and respectful questions could be asked without having to tread in eggshells then that, to me, would be progress.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Fellow 'Fediversers,' what keeps you hanging on here despite the "FV" being a work-in-progress, with all its built-in, various bumps & difficulties to experience along the way?
1·11 days agoBanned from Reddit. Gave FV a try and like it.

Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL: American Boomers are The Most Selfish Parents on the PlanetEnglish
61·13 days agoI blame the billionaires, but I despise the bootlickers who somehow think the billionaires got there fair, and square through hard work and that we’re all just jealous. It’s infuriating. I don’t hate successful people in the slightest. But multi-billionaires are parasites.

politics @lemmy.world•Why liberals, people of color and LGBTQ Americans say they're buying guns
152·15 days agoAmerica’s relationship with guns is darkly fascinating for those of us in other ‘western’ countries. The cliche of the right-wing gun-nut is seemingly way off the mark. You guys have absolutely normalised gun ownership. It’s deeply entrenched in your culture and is married to civil liberty in a way that is alien to most other developed nations.
It seems that the state tempering gun ownership is widely viewed as an intrusive and sinister overreach, whereas for us allowing everyday people to own assault rifles etc would be viewed as a dangerous dereliction of duty by the government.
I totally get the appeal of firearms. We go “clay pigeon shooting” where I lived in the UK. It’s fun. But the idea that the average citizen could legally own a gun is wild to us.
That rebuttal is too fact-heavy for the smooth brains to do much, other than reinforce their fear and suspicion of anything contrary to the moronic ramblings of their beloved grifter.

News@lemmy.world•Elon Musk’s politics cost his firm Tesla more than one million EV sales, report reveals
46·15 days agoFeels like if he could just STFU he’d be golden. I remember when he was widely seen in a positive light. He was practically messianic on Reddit back in the day. Then his innate pettiness came out when he called that diver a peado. It feels like his mask slipped then and everything after just reinforced the fact that he’s an unchecked and uncaring megalomaniac.
Thoughts and prayers, brother. That is heartbreaking.
Hey! I have a tiny dick and a tiny car. Do I get a prize?
Is a 40+ year old dating a 29 year old really deplorable? I agree that using anyone as some sort of status symbol fits that category, but the age thing surely isn’t an issue?
I just find these reductive generalisations a bit silly and divisive. As if anyone born between arbitrary years x and y is part of some sort of united collective that can reasonably critique everyone born between years v and w.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's a song in a language you don't speak that still gets you dancing and yelling along hyped?
5·16 days ago100%. My jam is 90s grunge, but anyone who doesn’t think Dragostea din tie is an absolute banger doesn’t really have a soul.

But sleep is amazing. To me it’s a partially interactive movie where you disassociate and live out different lives with other characters who are often an amalgamation of different folk you know, in weird semi-familiar settings both past and present. It’s wild.
