  • I have an older Sony with Google TV/Android TV. The only frustrating thing is that it doesn’t seem to get any OS updates but the version running on it is decent, no lag and the experience is improved with PiHole blocking ads. It also integrates fairly well with my Samsung phone and wife’s iPhone.

Had an LG years ago and WebOS was okay, relatively quick and not bogged down. Got a new LG TV for the bedroom last week and WebOS is absolute garbage. Super slow, laggy, keeps asking me to sign in and then doesn’t so can’t download any apps. It restarted the TV the other day mid way through a movie I was watching on the Jellyfin app because it ran out of memory. A lot of the English is poorly translated. So definitely thinking about getting a Chromecast with Google TV or Nvidia Shield.

I’ve tried out Apple TV in the past, it was okay. It’s lacking a Jellyfin app which is annoying, although I believe Swiftfin is available these days. The remote was also super annoying to use.

My brother has a Samsung TV, I think Tizen is total trash. Ads everywhere and just a slow, painful experience.
