  • The real tragedy about this thing is that when the right aligns itself so heavily with the “white genocide” narrative, it delegitimizes real problems in South Africa among liberals and leads them to side with the government of SA.

The ANC is an extremely corrupt political party which has seriously mismanaged South Africa. They do, in fact, weaponize government against white South Africans, seizing land and redistributing it to black South Africans. They scapegoat them in order to distract from their own corruption and economic mismanagement.

This does not rise to the level of “genocide” as Elon Musk would put it, but many people in the west sort of implicitly assume that the South African government is righteous because it’s run by the party of Nelson Mandela, but even black south Africans have started to become fed up with them and gave them a large electoral blow in the 2024 elections. They are still the leading party, but at less than 50% of the vote, so they now have to cooperate with coalition partners

  • *To Italy.

The family is trying to prevent her deportation with the help of their lawyer Elke Gabsa, despite the difficult legal footing. “If someone is recognized as a refugee in one country, it is fundamentally impossible to request protection in another [EU] member state,” Gabsa told DW.

She was granted refugee status in Italy and Traveled to Germany. The article does not specify, but I’m assuming the issue is that she has no legal status in Germany, only Italy.

Italy’s economy is, from what I’ve heard, garbage compared to Germany’s, so she probably traveled to Germany for the economic opportunities without any kind of legal authorization to do so.

Not saying she should be deported, but the headline is, I think, intentionally vague to make it seem like she’s being deported back to Afghanistan. I consider it to be dishonest, personally

  • I use claude to ask it coding questions. I don’t use it to generate my code; I mostly use it to do a kind of automated code review to look for obvious pitfalls. It’s pretty neat for that

I don’t use any other AI-powered products. I don’t let it generate emails, I don’t let it analyze data. If your site comes with a built in LLM powered feature, I assume

    1. It sucks
    2. You are a con artist

AI is the new Crypto. If you are vaguely associated with it, I assume there’s something criminal going on

  • it’s going to bombard you with an avalanche of pop ups and nag-dialogues that a person who’s logging in every day might not appreciate

I’m not sure what you’re talking about because I just don’t get any of those.

    1. I never installed anything related to 365
    2. I opted out of onedrive
    3. I turned off copilot

And I never get popups for them. I main Xubuntu but probably spend half my time in Windows 11 for software development and W11 is basically just a visual studio machine for me. I upgraded my CPU recently and it’s pretty snappy now, too!

I’m not saying your view is wrong, I’m just saying that your experience has been completely different from mine apparently
