I tried searching for #jewelry on mastodon.social, and @kosmimatis@handmade.social was the first thing to pop up. Of course you probably want to look around more, but their latest post is not necessarily a terrible starting point. For illustration purposes of course.

In short, I think it’s possible to go about it looking for a silversmith rather than a jewellery store. What it lacks in expensive stones it makes up for by being potentially personal. :)

Not exactly the most mainstream, but ProPublica strikes me as pretty solid. I’d encourage anyone cancelling their Post subscription to donate monthly to them instead - journalism needs funding.

I feel like part of the problem is that people don’t expect fascism to be so goddamn pathetic. They see obvious morons like this or Trump, and they struggle to imagine how they could possibly be dangerous.

I guess the lesson from history here is that just because they’re ridiculous it doesn’t make them any less dangerous.

You could read this as a vote for alignment with Russia vs Europe, in which case I completely agree.

In another reading, it’s a pretty huge decision on changeing the status quo and giving up a significant amount of sovreignity to join a powerful supranational union of states. It’s not necessarily an obvious decision, and reasonable people might vote no.

I’d argue voting to enter the EU is quite different from voting to leave it, as there will usually be a chunk of relatively reasonable voters who are decently happy with the status quo and reluctant to change it.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Harris wins in the demography this time around. The greatest generation knows what it means to defeat fascists. But then again there are probably more boomers and anti vaxers dying these days.

It’s insane how much crime we’re willing to tolerate as long as it’s committed by rich white people.

Studies have shown that if you ask people to make a plan for voting, they are more likely to actually go out and vote. It’s even cited in the FAQ of cards against humanity.

So we ask people to make a plan because it’s an efficient way to make them more involved and more likely to actually go out and vote when the day comes. Not because it’s so hard that they need a plan (unless you live in certain states of course), but because it forces you to think actively about it rather than just passively.

I’m not having problems with it in Firefox on my end, but it is full of mp4 videos and interactive elements, so I can see how it would cause trouble on some devices.

It’s powered by Ghost, which is quickly becoming an ActivityPub service as well. So not as off-topic as you might think!

I would guess it’s rather just not implemented as a feature yet, as it’s probably not a development priority.

Or maybe they figured the ClubAll-community could be closed off. But in general, it seems to be a project where missing features is the likely result of it still being at an early stage.
