Linux@programming.dev•Linux replacement for MusicBee / music player?
2·13 days agoHey, out of curiosity I installed musicbee portable (aside: it’s not very portable) using wine in cachyos (latest cachyos with latest wine).
I set a custom install directory and imported my music. It appears to have worked and I have it playing music right now.

Autism@lemmy.world•The curse of being functional enough to appear normal at times.
4·13 days agoSimilar to me. 57 now, autism+alexithymia+aphantasia but only discovered all of this through self-directed research. Because I “look normal”. Just a “bit weird”. All of my issues & attempts to cope just seen as me being “moody”, or “argumentative”, or generally arseholish. Anyway, not looking to whine just agreeing with you - it’s not easy and there’s not really much practical support, even though the health services here (UK) claim otherwise.

throwing ALL their stuff out into the street because the kid was late one time

2·22 days agoI have a Fritz!box 7530 for 2 years. It’s been very good, does everything I want, stable. good UI. their online support and knowledge base is very good.
Agree. I tried to watch that too, a long time ago. It’s also a shit film.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is Autism something old or has it been developed recently?
8·28 days agoI was “easily distracted” and “underperformed” and “could do better” at school. Always the “weird” kid. Only diagnosed when I was an adult because “autism” just wasn’t really a thing*. This was 40+ years ago. The general treatment approach was getting The Belt haha or sent to my room, or sent to my gran’s, or sent “out to play”.
*edit: when I was a kid

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If I travelled back in time to when I was younger wouldn't that mean my younger self would have already seen my current self as I'd have already visited from the future?
11·28 days agodoesn’t matter, we can’t go back in time. it’s just a thought experiment.

It’s all good. As far as I’ve seen kbin(.earth, the instance I use) has gone offline a few times recently due to cloudflare shitting the bed. Other than that, I am not well informed about the fediverse. Still learning. After a quick search, it looks like I created a mbin account that I use with kbin? Dunno. I may have made it unintentionally messy for myself.
Ah well. :))
I would like my dogs back, please.
I don’t think so? maybe? kbin seems pretty decent. I just don’t like change :))

I use Cachyos on my 13yr old system. Xeon e5, DDR3 ram, mix of SSD & HDD Sata. GTX 1070 ti.
it’s excellent. by far the best linux experience I’ve had (started using Linux in the late 90s).
