we’re not part of the EU anymore and therefore not covered by the EU’s mandate that is forcing Apple’s hand
who is downvoting this? 😂 maybe they live in a poor country, or maybe they’re making an obscure joke. Why would people go past this comment and be like “nope, fuck this person”
With that model the company can afford to offer far more content than with a pay-once model. With a pay-once model they only generate enough income to be able to offer a book, and maybe a smattering of supplementary material. Go subscription-based however, revenue increases, so output increases and now they can afford to create and maintain a whole lot more while keeping the price affordable to those who need it during the period that they need it.
It’s a similar principle to renting vs buying. If they were to offer all of those materials as a one-off purchase at a price that would allow their business to be sustainable, it would cost more than most are able to afford.
If we go back to one-off purchases, we go back to getting less for life as opposed to a lot for a limited period of time. It’s a trade off, and clearly one that most people are willing to make.
People get so angry (OP) about the way things are just because they’re unhappy in general and looking for something to blame. Not all companies are fair with their subscription models, but most are. Not every company cares about their customers, but most do. Some companies are run by sociopaths, but most are run by normal, nice people.
the solution is to change your typing style and then buy a Dygma Defy
wipe the linux partitions and get back to a life of convenience and productivity. until another 6 months have passed and I think “maybe this time…”
This happened to me. I refused to pay out of indignation. 10 years later I was hit with a CCJ that prevented me from renting a home. I was forced to repay the initial £30 fee that had increased to about £900 in interest in those 10 years.
the second screen from a design point of view is way more interesting and isn’t just using stock wireframes
You don't have to pay attention because you can look at the screen for 2 seconds at any point in the movie and know exactly what's happened and what's going to happen
JS land is the America of development. You may not like it, but it’s the encumbent power and it’ll be that way for a long time so might as well enjoy the plus sides
oh my god this is incredibly exciting! huge fan of e-ink. I wonder what the refresh rate is and how much impact the tech will have on battery life.
EDIT: should have read top comment 🥲
curry almost never qualifies as good porn 😄 I’m sure it tastes great though!
Holy Jebus, that is the absolute most bleeding edge phone I have ever seen, and it costs less than a Pixel 7a…
But agree with others that the software is a deal breaker. Loading this up with stock android would be a much better experience, but of course with roms there is a price to pay in terms of stability and compatibility.
Sure, if they’re second generation it’s a different story
I’m sure an AI could make you a stupid useless AI if you asked
My wife is Chinese so I lean more in the direction of hating Chinese people 😂 Just kidding I love her to bits.
I get it though… while I was living in China there were so many things I enjoyed about it that I didn’t often complain. But being back in Europe, the aggravation grows.
You can say hating the people for what their government does is stupid, but when the people stand so resolutely by their government the hatred goes in the same direction. Unless you’ve lived there, you won’t understand the long process of indoctrination so you won’t have sympathy for their unthinking obedience.
I think Mars Attacks counts, although perhaps the humans and aliens were portrayed as being equally stupid 😄
EDIT: did not realise I was posting in a books group. Just came up in my main feed. Anyway Ima leave Mars Attacks here in case anybody forgot about this excellent film.
Had no idea American’s couldn’t do that 😲 No wonder they don’t travel!
I missed a credit card repayment by 1 day and my score dropped almost 300 points (UK. 800 (very good) -> ~500 (below average))
