Even though these people will still vote for an anti-trans Republican candidate, the poll is a little encouraging. Republican politicians are not principled, and if persecuting trans people doesn’t win them applause from their voters perhaps they’ll quieten down a bit from inciting this particular hatred.

If I were buying an e-reader these days I’d look at something like the Boox devices that run Android. You could install the Kindle and Kobo apps and a good third-party reader app (I like ReadEra), and have pretty convenient access to ebooks from any source. They are overpriced though.

Somehow knowing the circumstances of her death makes Trump’s awful remark even nastier. Especially since he is a rapist.

Trump says vile things every day but this has to be one of the vilest.

Unfortunately this did not happen very quickly. The years leading up to it were pretty awful.
TL;DR: Trump is disinhibited, perhaps pathologically so. Sometimes this has served him well; at other times it has led him to walk into trouble when others would have the sense to shut up. In his first presidency his impulsive urges (“can’t you just shoot them?”) were moderated by professional staff who would not always act on what he said. Trump hated this and Project 2025 is largely about ensuring that, in a second Trump presidency, the govenment at all levels is packed with Trump loyalists who will put his every order into action. So next time he orders protestors shot, it may happen.

I spend a lot of my workday looking at windows that have turned white and “not responding”, or clicking on things and waiting a minute to see whether the click worked, or waiting for the Start menu to allow me to type, or waiting for the indexing service to spare me a little bit of my computer for my own use, etc. Then I come home to Linux and remember how computers can actually be fast and satisfying to use.
