13·3 months agodamn, that could have been so good. a series of unusual mysteries and sci-fi stories, all subtly linked to the central macguffin laboratory, or whatever government conspiracy is “behind the whole thing”.
they already have a whole alternate dimension to play with, so it doesn’t need to be contained to a single midwest town. they could set seasons in any part of the world, and make it a huge web, with a hyper local focus with new casts.
the more I think about it, the worse it gets; they had a perfect setup and didn’t go for it.

21·3 months agoa meme was originally used to describe repeated patterns in genetics, and is fundamentally another way to say “mimic,” so we could build an argument for a totally different way to moderate content here.
but the spirit of the community is to showcase the modern internet meme, so I think taking the narrow definition of “new jokes over repeated images” is more appropriate than a literal definition of the word itself.

22·3 months agobut not if it’s a text-only screenshot, like a twitter/tumblr post. the point of the modern “meme” is to be variations on a visual-based theme.
otherwise, it’s just a joke or a comment

I always read ellipses as if the speaker is trailing off in a condescending, disappointed, or sarcastic tone.
“if you think so…”
“that’s a great idea…”
“we definitely need more snacks in the house…”
It doesn’t make me anxious, but it always seems a little rude.

catching strays out here, my dude. sounds like a really positive take on something people find divisive.
cooking for others is so special - I’m glad your family shares that. my parents don’t cook, and certainly never took an interest in meeting most of the people I dated. but now my partner and I cook for them. they don’t like everything we make, and pick around the stuff they don’t want. everyone’s happy, so it all works out.
it’s also important to be a good guest. a host isn’t a servant. they didn’t make anyone do anything; they offered food and shared their home, and that’s pretty cool.
also, doesn’t sound like in-laws. “dated” implies casuality, and also past tense.
