Perhaps those businesses should use the decreased revenue from office workers to renegotiate their insane commercial leases so they can afford to operate without relying on a non-consensual clientele to stay solvent.
Edit: some sort of a loosely organized downtown business association that no doubt lobbied this boneheaded move, could instead organize a lease strike that should be a sufficient bargaining chip

Raspberries (and blackberries but those are thornier) grow rampant in most southern-mid parts of Canada and produce WAY more berries WAY easier than strawberries FWIW. I’ve never found strawberries to be worth the effort myself.
If you have a balcony with room for a couple bucket sized planters you could ask around for a couple shoots this spring and have a decent supply all summer. Or if you have a small yard or more with space for a single planter bed you’d likely have unlimited summer raspberries (plus freezing) for very minimal effort. You can pick em all summer long

I’ve been all over the states, I’m not being naive at all; blue states are better than red, but still fucked compared to the rest of the world. Definitely not worth visiting and supporting with your dollary-doos cause red states get 36% (on avg) of their budget from federal tax money.

Umm linseed oil is an oxidizing oil and therefore not a good choice (Edit: for anywhere lube is needed, it works great as rustproofing on bridges/machinery castings/anything that doesn’t move) since as you’ve found, it will ALWAYS harden… I think the boiling (chemical additive these days 99% of the time) just makes it harden faster/at colder temps?
Ballistol Universal Oil is German or Austrian I think and works great in place of 3 in 1 and many more spots. Thousand and 1 uses, also great for sewing machine oil.
Although it can be tricky to find everywhere, most sporting goods shops with a hunting section will have it, or Canadian Tire does. Comes in spray or liquid. Ask your local hardware store to start carrying it!
