1 year agoBut the way these laws are written, it isn’t under the social media company’s control. The laws are saying that if any user posts a link to a news article the company owes the publisher money. So the social media company will just ban links that are going to cost them money.
You’re linking to a message about the Paycheck Protection Program. It was passed when Trump was president and most of the money was passed out before Biden took office. Biden can be blamed for a number of things, but there’s no way that he can be held responsible for something that happened when he didn’t hold any office. The PPP should have been designed with more safeguards to prevent fraud, and perhaps Pelosi and House Democrats could have done more, but any bill had to pass the (then Republican) Senate and be signed by Trump to become law.
Perhaps if you’d said “Both Trump and Pelosi” you’d have an argument. But the executive branch ran the program, and they allowed looting. It was supposed to pay businesses to keep people on the payroll, they should have stopped bogus companies from getting so much money.
