  • This sounds impressive without anything that is existential for China. All commodities can be replaced if China pays a small premium for nonwestern sources while the rest of the world buys from western sources.

Airplane parts are inconvenient but China is starting to build their own aircrafts. If sanctions start, they will be able to create knockoffs for all necessary spare parts. But they also have a highspeed rail network, so they won’t be worried too much.

At this point in development, pressuring China will only accellerate the full independence of China. It would be Huawei on a national scale.

The dangerous part is that many former colonies won’t side with their former masters if they get the opportunity to break free.

  • Is that supoosed to be a good thing or a bad thing ?

I don’t judge. I just care about the mechanisms.

No, they’re just narrowly constrained as to what they can do

It’s turtles all the way down. At some point, somebody makes a decision against public transport.

A good follow on Mastodon who’s an actual traffic expert

Thanks for the link. Frustrating content but good.

It’s the other way round. Individualism prevents communism. People drive cars to prevent them from voting for those parties.

Downvoters, do you think all that bad urban planning is incompetence of the specialists while every comment section is filled with geniuses who for some reason are enlightened about public transport but never in the position of power to bring it to life?

It makes sense if she means to diss people with tattoos.

She says “can turn” in comparison to “doesn’t”. That comparison is not balanced.

I thought this was a quote.

As an observation, it is literally right. There is ‘Christian’ as a path of spiriitual growth and ‘Christian’ as a gang. That golden cross is a gang symbol and works as such. Spiritually it would be wooden. Golden, it shows membership of the Christian gang.

Tattoos work in the same way. Japanese know and treat them accordingly. At the very least tattoos of normal people make gang membership less despicable. If everybody marks themselves as non-normal, society changes.

This is not an argument against tattoos. They are just more than a fashion symbol, while those can already be spiritually influential, as many women on diets can attest.
