  • This actually makes sense, it would be reasonable if they laid out that information when they send out proposals for using it, especially with more transparency.

Something like “Hey, we would like you to use this advancement in technology but currently the adoption rates are low, and due to that we are financially limited in our ability to update our infrastructure to support this new technology, so the rates are going to be slightly higher to offset that cost which will enable us to update the infrastructure at an accelerated rate so that we can provide electricity to you at a lower cost. Here is our current financial standing and this is what is required for us to be able to completely support the grid in your area. Once this project is complete then your rates will go down to x amount”

At the same time though, they could slightly increase the cost of fossil fuel usage to match the increase they are charging for renewables in order offset the cost of upgrading the infrastructure at an accelerated pace.

I’m quite pessimistic when it comes to things like this, because I believe even if the infrastructure was there the rates would still be as high as using fossil fuels simply due to capitalism. Charging less for electricity (or anything for that matter) due to cheaper production, maintenance, or other factors impacts the money that the rich are getting and it has been shown time and time again that the rich will not accept that.

  • Then why is it more expensive when I opt to use renewable (including solar) energy with the electric company?

Oh wait, that’s because none of them actually want people to use it because they make less from it and/or are already so invested in fossil fuels that they don’t want to lose money on their investments so they jack up the costs intentionally to dissuade people from using it.

That’s just my opinion on the matter, I don’t have the data to back it up outside of the electric company here giving you the option to enroll in renewable energy at a higher cost.

  • Thing is, having to run a startup script to “remove” it means it’s not being removed. It’s being hindered at each boot.

Fighting against copilot has been a struggle as Microsoft consistently tries to inject it into every single application they can during updates.

We deal with very restrictive international regulations and the fact that they have not simple made a “fuck off” check box is going to get them into a boiling pot once the data they are scraping after ever update that reactively needs to be remediated gets added to their stupid “ai” and is able to be accessed.

Microsoft needs to get their shit together and provide and opt-in during OS install (corporate or not). A large banner should be displayed over the whole screen for 10 seconds “MICROSOFT IS TAKING ALL OF YOUR DATA AND SHOVING IT INTO A DATABASE THAT CAN POTENTIALLY BE ACCESSED BY ANYONE, AND THIS INCLUDES INFORMATION RESTRICTED BY INTERNATIONAL LAW, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS AND ANY PERSONALLY IDENTIFYING INFORMATION YOU HAVE ON YOUR COMPUTER” so that and users know that they are being sold and not an owner of what they are paying for.

Onshape is one that I recently learned about.

I normally use SolidWorks but its annoying just because I need to switch over to my windows install any time I want to use it.

Onshape is similar to SolidWorks and is intuitive. Browser based and much more powerful than TinkerCAD. Also has a free license. The only stipulation is that anything you create there is considered open source.

  • The only caveat I see is updating the server/app regularly.

Updating is definitely recommended for sure but I find myself waiting between updates. I’m still running 1.134.0 and have been for a while just because I’m not having any issues and haven’t gotten around to it.

I agree with everything else here as I have had the same experience.

Edit: This recent update I will likely update to though.

  • I think at this point we should stop calling things like this misguided. They aren’t.

It is a global effort by the ultra wealthy to instill fear and control in the majority populace of the world… The working class.

These measures are calculated to dissuade people from even attempting to rise up against the system out of an abundance of fear, designed to keep them in control as long as possible while they rape the planet and people of its resources, happiness and strength to fight. All so they can continue doing whatever they want because they likely won’t be alive long enough to see the long term effects.

Do I believe there is an inkling of good in there, sure but that little bit of good is from the under/uneducated populace that probably really do have good intentions when voting for these things. These people likely have no understanding of the underlying amount of data that is being collected on them and everyone else.

Just like me typing up this response, it’s probably being recorded somewhere other than on these instances and being parsed by some computer scanning the internet for discontent and trying to tie it to anything it can in regards to a physical person.

The goal is maximum control. The only people that are misguided are the ones voting for these things that don’t understand the ramifications. The ones that don’t care and/or are in a position of power are not misguided.

You know where we should start, the Epstein files. They don’t want to do that though because it would disrupt a lot the ruling class from retaining power and expose the fact that these things that are happening behind closed doors are tied to them more than the working class. There would be worldwide repercussions.

It’s not just about human trafficking and accessing adult content. It’s about war, the environment, money, and control.

The fear (in the ruling class) is starting to show, just a little bit. The cracks are forming, but the more influence they have over the uneducated helps them to maintain power. The world needs to keep the pressure on and let the ruling class know that we don’t stand for this.

The American government and corporations are a massive part of the problem. I say that as an American. I’ve never voted for the orange dildo and from day one have been openly opposed to him and probably 80% of the people in power. That being said, this is also a global effort. It’s not just happening here, we just have the biggest incompetent mouthpieces in the world.

  • You are absolutely correct.

I didn’t think about it at the time when I wrote my response but there have been situations with mine where he has done things that cross personal boundaries, at his age it’s more of him just being young enough to have that boundary himself but not understand that other people also have them.

Those were very quickly remedied by either explanation using his personal boundaries as an example or if that didn’t work then acting as if we were going to do something that crossed his boundaries so that he understands in those situations that no is an acceptable response full stop.

I could definitely see where not handling those immediately could turn into an absolute nightmare.
