If Texas secedes or tries to, Republicans lose 38 seats in the House of Representatives and two Senate seats. This give the House to Democrats for the foreseeable future and Democrats an easier path to passing bills in the Senate. Not that Texas, Abbott, cares.

if the secede their electoral votes shouldn’t count until congress passes a bill readmitting them. it’s only fair
