Jim Davis managed to cram 3 panels of content into a 9 panel area.

A lot of Sunday comics are written to be either 9 panels or 6 panels, so each newspaper can choose which to include, and for the better comics, they put an unrelated joke into the top row, along with the comic name. I’d imagine there aren’t many papers who would go out of their way to include the 9 panel version of this one.
