I get the enthusiasm, and that is absolutely the first instinct. But that also is exactly what ICE wants. That gives them grounds for escalation.
As bad as this video is, AND IT IS BAD, this woman was set free a few hours later. She’s alive, and still free.
If everyone starts shooting ICE, they won’t attempt to capture their subject. They’ll just engage every encounter guns blazing.
I’m not saying that ICE has never shot a target. I am saying I’ve never seen nor heard of ICE begining the encounter straight away by shooting. I don’t believe that is the norm for them, and I do think they’d love to jump out of their vehicle shooting. They would love to litter the streets in blood and corpses.
Until we actually officially start the second civil war, it’s best not to escalate. Just film them. Distribute the videos. Expose their identities. Expose their crimes to the world.
But don’t give them a reason to defend using murder as a first response.
They can escalate with or without that tho.
They have escalated without that.
After their escalation folk can either do nothing/comply, peacefully protest, or riot.
Same with martial law. They can declare it if the riots are happening or not.
I don’t think you can rely on ‘what are they supposed to do & how they are supposed to do it’ if they aren’t & never have followed that logic/values.
ICE will escalate things when they are ready (they are still recruiting), regardless of that the folk is doing.
The USA is also testing the chain of command in military too.
I’m not saying that either, it’s that if one side has the strategy to escalate and the ability to control the narrative it doesn’t affect much if the other side (just living there) escalates or not. It effects their immediate lives ofc, just not the overall peace of things.
I do think less direct methods would be effective though. They go after people living their daily lives with their guard down. That might be something to think about.
Ice has already been shooting people I read two articles in the last week where they shot innocent US citizens. They just assaulted, threatened to murder then kidnapped this woman. I was under the impression that the second amendment was the USA’s whole thing. Does waiting until they send the tanks out makes any sense?
