You put Public Option on the table so Aetna and United Healthcare pay you to kill it. You put DC Statehood on the table as a bargaining chip to remove again, for a price.
This is the modern state of American Democracy. Everything is for sale. The big difference between the Bush/Obama/Biden Era and Trump Era is that Trump wants to get a taste of everything. So he’s more nakedly corrupt and transparently greedy than his predecessors.
And that’s what Dems are sold on voting against. Not an end to corruption, but an end to making it so fucking obvious.
