i don’t get it. is it because it’s scary that the snake is free now?
I didn’t get it ether, but I found an explanation on Reddit from a couple years ago that makes sense.
You’d usually see signs for cute lost puppies on telephone polls. This is a massive snake, hung up by a giant scary-looking burly man.
You’re both right, plus some additional humor comes from the incongruity of the scary-looking burly man naming his huge snake “Ginger.”
There’s another angle to this: how the woman in the foreground must feel seeing the sign, finding out that the snake is loose in her neighborhood (presumably she’s mowing her own lawn).
“Some additional humor” — you’re very generous. This comic blows. Not all Far Side, obviously, but this one’s exceptionally low effort.
And snakes hide in grass.
