If you have one coming, it’s important to set up a local rapid response network. That means:

  • A hotline for locals to call (and distributing the number)
  • Town or neighborhood level signal chats to alert people about what is happening
  • Whistle distribution so that it’s possible to rapidly alert immediate neighbors
  • Starting regular patrols to spot ICE before they kidnap anybody

They have to. Their glorious leader is hurdling toward death and democracy, if it is allowed to occur, will remove them from power in the mid terms. They have until mid term winners take their offices next January to compete their goals or solidify their hold on power, by breaking democracy.

The fact is, this won’t be on most Americans’ radar until ICE starts invading white middle class suburbs, taking what they want and beating the shit out of white private school kids.

    And that’s going to happen.

Don’t forget, these processing centers are really meant for long-term use, not just the short-term excuse of cleaning up the illegals. Once they’ve tackled the immigration problem, which shouldn’t take long with their massive numbers and budget, they’ll have to use those facilities for something else.

The future business model of the United States will be to incarcerate everybody who violates the law even a little bit, and then rent them out as prison slave labor, and these facilities will house that labor.

And it won’t just be “criminals.” If AI, Robotics, and Slave Labor take your job away, you’ll be able to get government assistance, perhaps even UBI, in exchange for living in the Labor Camps, and volunteering to be a slave.

This is exactly what I keep saying in my day to day life and people literally tell me I’m insane.

It will become harder and harder for the average person to procure money at all, and not having money will become a crime. We’re just going back to chattel slavery, and the ruling class is exploiting the hatred of homeless people that they cultivated in order to manufacture consent.

Every citizen of every nation that has been destroyed by their government denied that it could ever happen in their beautiful country. Sarajevo hosted an Olympics in front of the entire world, and in a few short years, they were the victims of one of the most brutal sieges in human history.

A few centuries ago, some city state would be going along as they had every day since written records, only to have the Huns or the Mongols arrive the next day, and kill literally every living thing.

German citizens of 1933 would have laughed at you if you told them that in less than a decade, they would be murdering their fellow citizens at a wholesale pace, and the rest of the world would literally bomb their beautiful nation to rubble.

The South never would have started the Civil War if they had been truthful with themselves about the price they would pay.

Every country is beautiful, until it isn’t.

EDITED TO ADD: Be aware that there is open and proven mass manipulation of votes taking place in this thread, and that the call to violence above to which I am responding is a part of that orchestrated effort to manipulate via manufactured approval/disapproval. Just so you know. Screenshots follow further on down the line.

I’m not angry at your message, I’m angry at your willful ignorance.

Protesting is the first step, not the last. It’s how you meet your community and find out how, contrary to the lying media and firehose of propaganda, you are NOT alone, and all the different ways others are making their own difference the same way you want to. It’s how you personally begin to recognize where real power lies, and think about how you personally can add to that unified voice.

That alone is HUGE. You clearly don’t remember Friday, January 30 here in the US. It is when people simultaneously started walking out in all 50 states to protest this regime’s hold on power. It was so frightening to them they released the latest tranche of the Epstein files because they were losing the perception game, had been for days, and that was the only thing they had left to drown out the voice of millions of pissed off Americans all wanting the same thing.

But all that unity and reclaiming of individual power started last summer with No Kings.

And the National Guard is OUT of LA and Portland and Chicago because of court orders calling their presence there illegal BECAUSE the violence the National Guard were called to quell did not exist in reality.

Right this minute, as I type this, we do NOT have martial law in the US because of the savvy and wisdom of LA and Chicago and especially Minneapolis, who learned after George Floyd and aren’t giving in to the provocation game: instead of more ICE they have less, and the world’s sympathetic attention to boot.

THAT is what got us all off our asses on January 30. NOT violence, but the active resistance of provocation thereto.

But hey, you know best. Go ahead and school us on all the successful violent protests in the US in the last fifty years, which will begin with you ignoring everything I just wrote and insisting the opposite is true while pulling fact-free arguments out of your ass to bolster your spurious position, and then I link the court orders and you ignore those too, and then you call me names and I ignore those too . . .

Or you could just back the fuck up and STOP trying to incite violence just because you wanna see Americans fight each other for your own entertainment, which is what this all comes down to because the number of successful VIOLENT protests in the US in the last fifty years is precisely zero.

Thanks. I reported it to the mods and to lemmy.world admin. I’m glad the mods took quick action here too.

But what I’m really hoping for is that the lemmy.world admins ALSO ban/delete the obvious alts. When I looked up these accounts, most but not all were eighteen days old, and they were all used in the same timeframe, in roughly the same order, to manipulate the vote histories.

All of this is in overt, specific violation of the lemmy.world TOS. I don’t know what further proof they’d need.

EDITED TO ADD list of just the lemmy.org alts used in this specific vote manipulation, all created eighteen days ago, from Lemvotes:

EDITED AGAIN to say a million thanks to the mods/admins that worked on this so quickly to ban the users and remove their content, and as far as I know still are. I see from the modlog you’ve been busy wiping them and their content, and I could not be more grateful. May your good come back to you, and I mean that sincerely.

The real despair to feel here is about the massive sites like twitter and reddit, and how many people are doing this same act with even more effort, actual funding, actual headquarters and organized planning to manufacture conversations and debates, every single day, around the clock.

Lemmy probably isn’t going to push any needles in either direction, but the fact that we can see them even here, shows just how widespread the infection really is, and there are millions of people reading this kind of chaos and just rolling their eyes and deciding to not get involved, to not have an opinion, to let whatever happens, happen.

I’d agree with everything you said, except to point out that my own belief is that it’s funded here as well. When I engage with them, I not only find the usual hinky shit, but as they get frustrated their perfect English tends to slip, not into full error but into the kind of phrasing that non-English speakers, especially Eastern Europeans, tend to fall into.

Nothing against Eastern Europeans – in real life I personally know many Poles, Ukrainians, and even Russians, and they are generally the best, hardest working, coolest people you’d ever want to know – but it does beg the question of why the everlivin’ fuck a single bored Lemmy-reading Eastern European is running over a dozen alts to manipulate a post encouraging violence in the US, especially if the US is their adopted home.

Occam’s Razor suggests the answer lies in a never-stopped, never fully revealed Internet Research Agency, but again that’s just my personal opinion, lol.

I’m gonna stop at “first step” and stop reading.

        WE ARE PAST STEP ONE.

At this rate, we should expect within the year:

Martial law or some kind of federal control over local government and law enforcement.

Total control over voting, via manipulated USPS date stamping (already in progress), ICE at the voting booths, and all the usual gerrymandering. (And all the other stuff Trump is casually saying but is totally serious about)

No “blue wave” midterm like most of you fools think.

This is all GOING TO HAPPEN. It’s not a maybe anymore.

        Fucking wake up.

It’s the only option they have.

Yes, the sooner they do it, the easier and less painful it will be. Yes, they failed to take the easier path and didn’t learn the lesson from Trumps last run.

All that, but the beast is starting to wake. As things get worse, they’ll react in kind.

I’m frustrated with them too, I was one of those warning them about not voting years ago but encouraging them to openly fight the oppressor isn’t going to work.

Oh look, and it’s the same list of users that upvoted the first comment, also in the space of a single minute:

          OPs comment inciting to violence

So for anyone reading this, be aware that the call to violence is not one person’s honest opinion but part of an orchestrated campaign using at least thirteen separate Federated accounts to manufacture the appearance of both approval and disapproval that do not exist in reality.

Who wins if you get violent? History has a clear answer: the regime seeking to consolidate its power by any means possible, including manipulation of social media and delegitimization of genuine, peaceful grassroots movements.

You’re watching it happen, right here on Lemmy.

Fucking evil. Know why? My wife got her Green Card in the USCIS in Santa Ana in the same building as ICE is setting up in. They’re 100% going to use this as a way to target people seeking legal status, guaranteed.

I believe the same is true of the federal building in LA, too. One could make the point that no one in the entire state will house ICE except that which is owned already by the feds, but to share buildings with people seeking legal status is absolutely abhorrent.

Yep. Even perfectly normal visa renewals often include brief periods of technically undocumented status during various paperwork delays and such. Historically that wasn’t a big deal because no one was getting disappeared over an immigration civil infraction, but here were are now. All those little gaps in the system are opportunities to randomly deport working people for no reason.

I hope not, but I wouldn’t be surprised. I’m aware there’s been a few high profile ICE incidents in Santa Ana in particular, but most of the people there are still citizens; it might be the obvious racism that makes things tense. They’ve always had a hard time dealing with their conservative neighbors, though.

We haven’t even tried our most powerful non-violent tactic yet: a proper, long-term, nation wide General Strike.

The country would be brought to its knees if suddenly deprived of profit and labor, allowing us to simply ignore the democrats and their lack of spine, and instead demand real changes (abolishing ICE should be towards the top of the list).

That tactic was extremely effective in Chile in 2019, and had they not fallen for the trick of liberal reform, they would’ve had a successful revolution on their hands with virtually no bloodshed.

There are some concrete steps all of us can take toward enacting that hard-core general strike to make it more viable and bearable for us all. (the titles below expand if you click them).

      Learn First Aid! ⛑️

As we’re seeing, deadly violence is being used against us and it will only continue. It extremely important to have the skills to be able to keep yourself and others alive if they get hurt.

Tacticool Girlfriend provides a great introduction to building a personal first aid kit, called an IFAK, which can deal with things like bullet wounds and other serious bleeding wounds. I also want to emphasize her recommendation of only buying medical gear from reputable sources (not Amazon!), such as North American Rescue to avoid fakes that could cost you your life.

But you’ll need to learn how to use that equipment, too. The best resource for that is to take a local Stop The Bleed class, which are pretty widely available in most places. They may cost a small fee, but can also sometimes be free. Alternatively, if you cannot access a local class, this video by PrepMedic will give you a solid understanding of how to use Tourniquets and Gauze for wound packing.

Injuries are less harmful if they are tended to early. Learning first aid can help conserve resources when healthcare becomes unaffordable. Having several medics in case of harm by police is an extremely powerful morale booster during a protest that may become a police riot. When you become comfortable with the basics of first aid, riot medicine is the next suggested step.

Establish or join local Mutual Aid networks ✊

If you haven’t already, get to know your neighbors. Mutual aid is a willingness to support and grow your community. This can include informal networks through friends, tenant/renter organizations, solidarity groups, and industrial unions.

These are groups using direct action to solve each other’s problems. Building strong communities makes it difficult for fascism to take root. The actions of the government are going to hit every community hard, and the ones who build trust in each other and work together are most likely to survive. We’ve been building a list of resources in !inperson@slrpnk.net to help you on your way. Also check out this handy guide to find existing groups in your area.

This isn’t only for your own community protection. Your ability to organize today will change the political landscape tomorrow. When revolution occurs, the social organizations that show the greatest resilience through the regime are the ones typically calling the shots when the dust settles. When it comes to elections, get out the vote drives are useless if most of the voters are fascists. At some point, you have to do grassroots political education if you don’t want fascist candidates winning elections. Mutual aid networks are excellent forums not only for teaching each other good political ideas, but demonstrating them in practice.

Join a Union and Prepare for an even longer General Strike! 💪

If you aren’t in a union (or even if you are, it’s worth dual-carding), consider joining the IWW to unionize your workplace (bonus: you’ll get higher wages, better benefits, and more time off if you succeed!) to strengthen a general strike if we manage to enact one, as most unions have a strike fund that can supplement your income during a general strike to make it more financially bearable (you should also save as much money as you can reasonably do, so it can also be used to keep yourself afloat during a strike). A General Strike is officially planned by the UAW for May 1st 2028, but it was planned before Trump was elected, and by then may be too late, so prepare now for one that may start sooner.

And for our international friends, you should join one as well, as fascism is gaining momentum globally. If your country isn’t listed below, just contact the IWW directly in the link above, and they’ll help you set up a new local branch.

Adopt Security Culture and Digital Camouflage 🛡️

Sometimes benign seeming efforts can turn into unexpected personal data collecting traps. Like an obscure website for exchanging contact info with other students turning into a global ad-tech surveillance network (Facebook), or innocent seeming online personality tests being use to harvest character profiles. Even Etsy, Reddit, Tinder, and Duolingo are feeding information to US Government Agencies like ICE.

Security culture is commonly used to describe the general awareness of such potential traps and how it can affect groups or entire communities. This goes beyond mere individual privacy efforts, as without joint efforts these often fail to work.

Especially in activist circles, security culture is paramount. For opsec reasons not everyone in the group might be aware of what clandestine efforts others are involved in, but with a general security culture many potential data leaks can be avoided.

Movements are made by the volume of their participants, and the easier and less dangerous it is to participate, the more people will get involved. As more people get involved, individual involvement becomes even less dangerous, creating a virtuous cycle.

We’ll start it off with some General Advice:

      • Mentally wall off personal uniquely identifying info from your online presence, actively build a habit of opsec so that withholding information is your default mental state
      • Be careful about who you meet online
      • Use different, unrelated usernames, passwords & emails for every account. And try not to connect to those accounts with your real IP address (use Tor or a VPN)
      • Be mindful that anything done online leaves a trail
      • agents provocateurs may seek to find patsies willing to perform an ill-advised illegal activity in order to legitimize police repression. If someone is trying to pressure you, especially if you don’t have a long and proven history with them, be extremely wary.

For a full guide on what encrypted communications platforms to use, and how to stay off the radar, read the Digital Camouflage section within the Monthly Meta post here (you’ll need to scroll down. I’d add it here, but it won’t fit in this comment).

I’d also highly recommend Full Spectrum Resistance to anyone who wants further info on how to resist (audiobook version here).

I’m very familiar with it. Matewan (which takes place before the battle for Blair Mountain) is one of my favorite movies.

The difference is in the period where the US labor movement employed violent resistance; The government was not literal Nazis, the US had not yet become the most advanced military on the planet, and the police and strike-breaker thugs weren’t as well equipped as the military itself, nor had state funded billion dollar budgets to boot. Hell, the workers at Blair Mountain could’ve done a lot of damage, maybe even inspire a popular revolt across the US, had they not been persuaded to stop.

We, and the US labor movement, is at this moment facing a problem much closer to the consolidation of power ofNazi Germany, where unions were destroyed by an overwhelming state violence.

I’m not saying that it’d be a bad idea to be prepared if non-violent resistance fails, I’ve made posts in that area as well. But at the same time, it’s quite clear that the regime is looking for an excuse to call martial law, cancel the elections, and unleash the military upon all who oppose it.

I’m personally not super confident that the US military will refuse orders, or that a large enough faction within it would split off and join the resistance if ordered to round up and kill US citizens. Without that, being the initiator in a violent resistance would light off a powder keg that is not to our advantage, as it would then reduce our resistance force to only the most militant. And again, if the military blindly follows orders, it would be open-slaughter in a straight up fight. At best, the resistance could manage a Troubles like reaction.

There’s a point where we may be forced into that position regardless, but we’re currently dominating in winning public sentiment, and lowering the popularity of the regime, which also doesn’t seem competent enough realize that they’re speedrunning the violent suppression part (Hitler and Mussolini built it up patiently over a decade), and aren’t providing the economic gains to their base to compensate for the violent shock.

It would seem prudent to let the regime continue to hang itself as we further ferment non-violent resistance and educate workers of how much power they can wield with a general strike, and to organize for one before it’s too late. And at least in my opinion, it’d be damned foolish not to even try the non-violent path considering how effective its been demonstrated to be, especially when the alternative is a tremendous amount of death, and possibly a new civil war.

where unions were destroyed by an overwhelming state violence.

Hitler talked about exactly this - waiting just makes it worse, and your choices are fighting or full submission.

“Only one danger could have jeopardised this development — if our adversaries had understood its principle, established a clear understanding of our ideas, and not offered any resistance. Or, alternatively, if they had from the first day annihilated with the utmost brutality the nucleus of our new movement.”

it’s quite clear that the regime is looking for an excuse to call martial law, cancel the elections, and unleash the military upon all who oppose it.

They’re not going to wait for an excuse, or they’ll make one. You’re dealing with a false choice here.

, it’d be damned foolish not to even try the non-violent path considering how effective its been demonstrated to be

It hasn’t been. I would highly recommend a book called This Nonviolent Stuff’ll Get You Killed, which is about exactly the use of non-violence in the US Civil Rights movement - the reality as opposed to the myth that has been forced down since. The tl;dr; is this - the movement was all nonviolent, it was a tactic that also recognized it had violence in riots to offer as another path, and most importantly, the US cared about public opinion internationally due to competition with the USSR. None of that is applicable here.

waiting just makes it worse, and your choices are fighting or full submission.

I don’t believe it’s a simple binary. During Nazi Germany’s rise, Hitler was extremely popular with the average citizen. I will agree that in that period, a militant option might’ve been their only real move, as the Unions, despite being far stronger than they are in the US today, didn’t seem to take the threat seriously enough to call for a general strike (or at least, I can’t easily find an example of them doing so) before he took power, or after Hitler began attacking the unions.

In contrast, the US unions (besides the teamsters) seem to be aware of the threat, and are actively making inroads to a general strike.

They’re not going to wait for an excuse, or they’ll make one. You’re dealing with a false choice here.

I agree that they will eventually pull a Reichstag fire, but it’s not clear to me that accelerating a confrontation is wise. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend checking out the article I linked in my previous response.

which is about exactly the use of non-violence in the US Civil Rights movement

I’m not sure that’s applicable, or perhaps we’re using the word violence differently. I’m not at all against property destruction or riots, but you didn’t see Black Panthers actively going on the offensive and gunning down cops. Had they done so, it would’ve brought the whole military down on them and they’d likely be wiped out without mercy, which the government was itching to justify as evidenced by the Desire group being shot at with 30 thousand rounds without provocation.

I think the Civil rights movement used property destruction and the very real threat of violence quite effectively, but I’m unsure how things would’ve gone had Malcolm X openly called for the movement to open fire, as he almost did after the murders of Nation of Islam members. Maybe that would’ve kicked off a successful revolution, another civil war, or the quick extinguishing of those radical members by the military. It’s hard to say.

As to the quote in the photo you left: I agree that a peaceful protest will change nothing without a credible threat to back it up. A general strike is one threat, and a very effective one if enacted (as evidenced by how the government of Chile reacted to one). Property damage is another, as are riots. The last option is the cartridge box, it should not be the first option unless you know you can win, and have a pretty good idea that it will save more lives than not using it.

In addition to This Nonviolent Stuff, please go read The Death of Democracy, about exactly how the Nazis took power.

Contrary to Cold War revisionism (which had to paint the commies as villians), the tactic of the SPD to avoid violent confrontation with the right (which is why they unleashed the Freikorps on the left) was never going to work. The conservatives, and crucially Hindenberg, saw any democratic or socialist government as unacceptable. Compromises and attempting to keep the peace actually just let the Nazis gather strength and normalize their own violence.

The lesson here is clear - deciding to unilaterally reject violence against a violent opponent just means you give them the luxury of deciding when to strike, and that is usually fatal. Ask the dead in MN if the US administration is non-violent.

HIPAA grants the govt the right to your “protected” health information in certain circumstances. Sec of HHS (RFK) can waive parts of HIPAA during a “public health emergency” https://www.hhs.gov/hipaa/for-professionals/privacy/laws-regulations/index.html

We also already have registries in some states https://www.heartstoneguidancecenter.com/post/the-unsettling-reality-of-mandatory-autism-databases

Most states also allow forced sterilization of ppl w/ disabilities https://nwlc.org/resource/forced-sterilization-of-disabled-people-in-the-united-states/

I’m not aware of any such repository. Medical records are managed per doctor office, no?

I guess they can check with the IRS. On tax documents when you get a new job, “autism” is one of the qualifying disabilities for “do you or have you ever had a disability.”

Honestly, if they had their time and power as long as they want it, they will go after interracial marriage after destroying gay marriage.

The gay marriage repeal would cause a lot of uproar but be quickly overshadowed by other chaotic policies and endeavors, and then we will be left with more problems, more people wondering what to do about their new statuses, maybe they will implement some new kind of federally recognized “partnership” so they don’t have to face lawsuits from every state, and then work later to actually abolish that as well, then the media cycle will move on and we all get used to a new, worse normal.

Then next they say “We have intelligence that foreign agents and terrorists are using marriage to infiltrate the country, so we are going to need every interracial married couple to register in a database so ICE can review the legal status of your marriage…” and the song goes on.

But I don’t think they can pull all this off. They want to, Miller self-pleasures himself every night imagining the despair and anger he would cause, but they are radically overreaching, the pushback against ICE broadly is only going to escalate and they don’t have nearly enough resources to do the entire Project 2025 handbook unless they just openly dissolve the government and seize assets but at that point the military would have to step in, because they are wisely sworn to the constitution and not a person. And the biggest reason they likely won’t get that far is the USA is fucking huge.

50 states is hard as fuck to manage, that’s why we have them, so we can have every state manage its own voting, it’s own tax contributions, it’s own delegation of representatives, etc. They are going to get creamed in mid-terms and Trump will die before his term is up and they won’t be able to hold the pieces together because MAGA is their political capital and they have no CLUE how to hold onto them, like sand through their fingers, it will all slip away rapidly.

RFK jr. was trying to make a national registry for people with autism, not sure how far that got but I’m pretty sure they can check medicaid records. HIPAA doesn’t mean much to this rogue administration…

I don’t they would go after liberals, there’s too many Americans who fall into that category and generally liberals help maintain fascism. However, they will probably go after leftists

LOL, this is the bunch that equates the Democrat Party (sic) with Communists.

You think they are going to get into all the hair-splitting that the left loves to get into over what the definition of liberalism is?

Yes, but only because of the history of fascism targeting communists and socialists in the past. They also understand that socialism is the existential threat to them. They understand that liberals are not a threat and that they can’t imprison 60+% of the country

Concentration camps. Death camps. I suspect they’ve killed people already in the detention centers. Can’t prove it, of course, I expect we won’t see proof unless the regime falls

There are dozens of well-documented examples. Plus some where they put somebody on life support for deportation.

The question is the scale of killing, to what extent do poor food and sanitation in rhe concentration camps kill, and how often does deporting a healthy person result in their death in the following weeks to months.
