Vintage and Retro Ads, Promos, Fliers, Etc. @sh.itjust.works•Twizzlers ad, 1994
1·13 hours agoWas gonna say, do they still make those? Pull and peel was the shit. OG twizzlers are just trash you got on Halloween and you’d give to your parents or eat it last when you were desperate.
I recently had a work laptop battery die. This was during COVID so I didn’t want to deal with taking it to a place or having them send a technician. I told them to just mail me one and I’d do it myself. I assumed it would pop out like the picture and be easily replaced. It turned out that I needed a heat gun and had to get like 5 screws out, remove and replace a ribbon cable and a few other things. It was still doable, but thanks Dell for making that way harder than it had to be to sell services to people.
I’m actually in the bruh button business. DM me your credit card # dawg
Last time I stayed at an Airbnb, all their pots were nonstick and scratched to shit. I made pasta a couple of times in the tea kettle. I try to avoid nonstick in general, but when being used communally, there is no fucking way I can trust that people have treated it right, and as much as my body craves Teflon as a fuel source, I will do everything in my power to avoid it, including cooking in a tea kettle.

People who are uninformed: When purchasing a watermelon, you want to pat it like a drum. (Don’t slap it like you’re Will smith and it’s Chris Rock. That might not end well; the melon might explode) When you pat it, you want it to sound hollow. This will help you pick better tasting watermelons. You’re welcome.

1·4 days agoMy buddy who’s a cinephile wants to go w me, but will only see it in that format. Both the places are mad far and have thus far been sold out. I’m ready to give up and just go solo and see it in a regular theater. I legit don’t give a single fuck about imax. It just means I’ll have to pay double for tickets.

If you aren’t one of those 2 very specific groups and you voted for him, you have to be one of the dumbest people on the planet. It reminds me of a George Carlin bit. “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that!”
In my experience, for lower division for every bachelor’s degree there was typically a science class requirement. Hell, I majored in business and I had to take Anthropology and Geology. Shit might have been different back when he went, I don’t know.

Biodiversity@mander.xyz•Avocado flowers switch sex daily—now we know whyEnglish
7·5 days agoI had a rudimentary knowledge of avocado flowering from being bored during COVID and growing a few avocado trees and watching some YouTube videos. I thought the male flowers opened in the morning and female opened in the afternoon. None of my plants have flowered yet, so I have not seen it in person. I didn’t realize the flowers actually changed sex. Quite interesting.

Your phone lineup is almost a mirror to mine, and your sentiments match mine as well. I used to root phones and flash custom ROMs to get the stock android experience on the garbage phones Verizon would sell me. The point was to get less bloat, and a functional device that I could get to do what I want with it. Once there was a nexus phone compatible with my carrier, I moved to Google’s phones, and stopped tweaking the OS altogether. All Google has done over the years is remove useful features and try and shove AI down people’s throats. I’m now looking at options to degoogle my phone, and I’m not particularly fond of buying any flagship phone should this one die.
