  • You don’t pour water on a grease fire because grease floats and it will spill out of your pot and catch the rest of your kitchen on fire

I expect you know as you were mainly talking about batteries (on this post about batteries) - but grease fires are not quite dangerous just because grease floats and adding water causes it to spill fire - when you introduce the water it does sink, but then it superheats to vapour, rapidly expanding and almost erupts the oil, chucking a poor man’s napalm round everything in the vicinity

It doesn’t have to even be on fire, if the oil is >100 degrees and there’s enough of it to superheat adding water will do the same thing (minus the flames) - a melted face is better than a melted face and a house fire, but neither are recommended

  • etoro is a broker that allows you to “copy trade” popular investors and portfolios, which mimc trades according to how much capital you have invested, though Nancy ain’t gonna be on there

There’s also ETFs such as ARK which are easy to get into, are managed by the likes of Cathie Wood and if they’re doing a good job, only go up

Biggest regret in the last 15 years is not getting into it earlier tbh, if you have even a passing interest in trading, open a mock account (or a real one with some money you don’t mind “losing”) and just have a go - it’s very simple nowadays. Gone are the days where you need to pay $10 to a broker to even make a trade

  • In the UK if you earn over £100k you effectively get taxed 60% (using PAYE)

I’d happily pay 75% if it meant public services were actually effective, but we have the double whammy of high taxation and crumbling services - that’s what over a decade of conservative rule does… Here’s to the next 4 years!

The story is great regardless, but there is a definate shift between the hyper realism I fell in love with in the early books, vs the protomolecule Sci fi of the later books - it was all necessary to close the story and the funky Miller chapters were some of the best, but there was defo the sense of getting to the ending for the ending’s sake

If there was ever another shot at completing the series I’d be first in line, but in its current state I can’t recommend watching beyond season 5

The side characters really did shine in the early tv seasons though - cara gee as a meld of drummer/pa was fantastic, the belter creole was iconic. Wes as Amos was perfect, Cas as Alex was (initially) great, Dominique as naiomi switching between belter creole/common was awesome - it was a shame the series suffered cause Cas was a pig, but I can’t blame Amazon for covering their ass

They’re worth sticking with just to see the end of everyone’s arc - memories legion is also great at filling some gaps all over the series

The show unfortunately drops off a cliff before laconia gets started - doesn’t end in a bad spot, pre time skip, but the shite with Cas Anvar means they’d have to remake the whole last season to resurrect it
