If outing conservatives for their projection materially changes anything, it will be a first. That said, I fully support this endeavor.

It’s just like the American flag.

Anymore if I see someone have an abundance of American flags flying, or stickers/bumper stickers I don’t assume they’re patriotic I assume they’re a racist bigoted trump supporter.

Damn racists stole the American flag the way they think gays stole the rainbow.

I’m 6’3, 300 pounds, built like a linebacker. Shaved head. There aren’t a lot of clothes that look good on me and actually fit (finding a shirt long enough is hell). I tend to wear jeans and wife beater with an unbuttoned collared shirt in the summer, and flannel in the winter. I also tend to wear the shoes the podiatrist gives me (for now. So long medical insurance after 2025).

I have 100 percent been confused for a skin head on numerous occasions. If I’m leaving Walmart after dark, women will rush to their cars if I have to pass close by. I don’t blame them. It sucks, but I’m glad they’re acting on their safety over my feelings. But it does still hurt my feelings. :/

I hear you friend. I’m 200 pounds 6’ even. I’m bald so I shave my head. On the funny side rarely people thank me for my service, or more often tell me I forgot my military discount.

On the not so fun side it makes it difficult to buy drugs, and I love drugs.

I would also suggest Duluth trading. It’s been my go to for a long time. Similar in quality to Carhartt but has more material options. Their dry on the fly line of stuff is 90% of what I wear.

If you’re 300 lbs, there’s no way you’re built like a linebacker. 240 is about max for a linebacker. I’m 6’4 and 220. You’re either muscle bound or built like a lineman.

i’ve never been comfortable with the usage of the term “outing gay men” in this specific fairly negative context.

their fallacy isn’t being gay – that by itself is nothing wrong and should never be associated with a public shaming exercise.

no, the problem in this scenario is their hypocrisy in denigrating other gay men for their activities while indulging in those activities themselves.

this whole series of events should be called “exposing the hypocrisy of loud-mouths” instead of “outing gay men”.

Conservative forums are talking about rounding up immigrants, letting women die in clinics and stripping people of their rights and dismantling Democracy.

Here on the “left” lemmy, we’re arguing whether calling out hypocrites is a step too far we’ve got to be respectful after all!

This is why the left sucks as organising and actually voting for change in unison. A simple thing as outing assholes starts a 10h discussion, meanwhile on the right they are building cages…

Oh I’m sorry, not cages, enclosures without exists, we don’t want to offend people identifying as cages!

That’s the paradox of intolerance though.

If you don’t tolerate intolerance, you are intolerant.

The paradox of tolerance is poorly named. Tolerance is part of the social contract and one that breaks the contract is no longer protected by it. The intolerant are excusing themselves from the contract and the rest of us can and should exclude them from the society they harmed.

I’m not gay, but the idea of outing ANYONE in the LGBTQIA+ community has long been a cardinal sin, enough so that it destroys careers and forces them to be almost globally shunned. I would imagine that for many there is a deep-set conflict between outing someone that has wronged them, and not outing someone that would likely want to be accepted elsewhere where they don’t need to pretend to be something they aren’t.

The problem with outing someone is that it risks subjecting them to discrimination and bigotry by homophobic assholes. Shunning it as a cardinal sin is a defense mechanism to protect each other.

If right-wing bigots hide behind those protections, while being part of the problem that necessitates them in the first place, they deserve no protections.
