Germany just elected a far right wing government.

What do you mean by this? I thought the next election still had to be planned

Due to the sharp policy disagreement over the economic crisis, Scholz announced the dismissal of FDP leader Christian Lindner as Federal Minister of Finance on 6 November 2024, triggering the collapse of the coalition, and making a snap election likely to be held earlier in 2025.

As a result, an early 2025 federal election is to be held, with the parties having agreed on 23 February 2025 as the date.[3] The 23 February date for the election was confirmed by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on 27 December 2024.

I have not taken any time to properly learn about whatever’s going on in Germany lately (fwiw I did not presume that it was the entire government, just a portion of it). I edited my comment to reflect that.

Moreover perhaps I should say that it is unfair to pin all of my hopes for the future of democracy onto Germany? But thems the breaks.:-P
