My guess is cry and not much more.
Kill people.
You really think? I think they are all talk. Look how the second ammendment" people act when their rights are being taken away.
The guy that beat Paul Pelosi with a hammer wasn’t all talk. They’re out there, acting on their interpretation of Trump’s will. Honestly reminds me a lot of the zealots in imperial Japan. Junior officers would assassinate officers with opposing views to theirs as they believed that they “understood the emperor’s will” better than their enemies. This gave them enough mental leeway to act unilaterally (or in a small cell).
Only a small portion of them need to be violent to cause problems. Like a few thousand out of the tens of millions of maga voters killing or attempting to kill politicians or the people they hate would be enough to lead to far bigger problems than the failed Jan 6th insurrection. It would likely to be used to justify martial law.
We could see copycat versions of Jan. 6th happening in various red states. More right-wing accelerationism for sure. Will that include violence? I mean, we’ve already seen them commit it before. Things are going to get much worse. The worst part is, even if the Republican Party “stops” MAGA, we are still being lead by the Party that allowed MAGA to take power in the first place. They will capitalize on the right-wing violence to push more police and military presence anyway which will largely be used against leftists.
I feel every thing you said is absolutely correct apart from the “largely used against leftists.” There will be no face left uneaten by leopards. Once the minority has control they will stomp EVERYONE to keep power and live luxurious lives.
What I meant was that any right-wing or state violence will be attributed to leftists as a scapegoat. It will allow them to stomp on everyone while displacing the blame onto a convenient target.
I’m pretty sure all the republicans in congress are MAGA
This is generally the sort of question that’s more appropriate for !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or other communities. It’s more a question about the nitty gritty of politics, as opposed to a more specific question (Are you worried about what MAGA will do if …?) or a more general ask (How does the history of fascism in the US apply to today?).
