Dudes apparently a communist.
Corporations exist to make money in a capitalist system.
Telling them to not make money and “EAT THE TARIFFS” as Fat Fuck Orange Man eloquently put it, is anti-capitalist posturing to its core.
Fucking communist fucks.
Don’t forget though, he is getting tips from Putin. Those CEOs better stay away from free tea and high floor, windows.
Corporations exist to make money in a capitalist system.
That’s under a Liberal free market capitalist president, sure. But we’re done with Woke Liberal Capitalist bullshit.
Now corporations exist to venerate the state and its glorious leader. Walmart needs to be singing Trump’s praises and delivering the treats. Otherwise Walmart isn’t doing it’s job, and it’s management will be replaced with someone who can.
Fucking communist fucks.
All hail Dear Leader, the Light and the Sun.
Honestly, this is one of the rare times that even I have to say that Trump needs to pick his battles carefully.
The venn diagram of “MAGA” and “Walmart Shoppers” is basically a circle. And they’re the ones with the guns. Seeing their walmart bill spike from $100 last week to $235 or whatever the next week may be the straw that breaks some of the camels’ backs. There’s only so long that Trump can deflect blame to Biden before even they start asking “But you’re President now. What are you going to do about it?”.
If Walmart is successful at making sure that their shoppers know that Trump’s tariffs are to blame for the price hikes, there is a non-zero chance that it causes the leopards he unleashed to turn around and look at his face with that hungry look in their eyes.
Additionally he’s pissing off the last of the boardroom-class GOP, anyone not affected by the tariffs are now watching him tell the biggest retailer in the world they should cut back on profits, fucking profits man, that’s the thing you never cut. This is some super questionable strategy on many levels. Tho the stock market is clearly ready to keep the band playing well into the ship’s sinking.
Nothing will change until we persuade these cunts that they are obligated to the American voter.
trump is a child at this game. Walmart has such tight control over its vendors it could require all of them to create new SKUs and slightly change the packaging (perhaps even the quatities/serving size or item packages) which would then be whole new products with the built in higher prices. Walmart could then claim they’ve raise prices on zero new products and its simply the items available are more expensive to buy from their vendors.
Further Walmart would close stores before it takes a consistent loss. Imagine the damage to trump’s image with his MAGA cohort if the local Walmart shut down with a giant banner out front saying “Store closing due to tariffs”.
A better message:
“closed due to trump taxes”
His name should be on it, and call it what it is, a tax. Conservatives like to foam at the mouth at the sound of taxes after all. It’s one of the few things they’ve been trained to do.
It should, but it won’t. Even without checking, there’s a 0% chance the Waltons and Wal-Mart’s upper management aren’t MAGAs. They’re not gonna eat the tariffs, but they’re not gonna throw Trump under the bus any more than they have to either.
They aren’t MAGA. They’re in only for themselves and will temporarily ally with anything they think make them more in the long run. Which currently is Trump with MAGA, and while they share the motivation with him, it’s selfish. I mean if he wanted to, Trump could offset the higher cost. Why should Walmart and not the one causing it?
Imagine the damage to trump’s image with his MAGA cohort if the local Walmart shut down with a giant banner out front saying “Store closing due to tariffs”.
“We stopped the Woke Giant™©® Walmart and saved local business! MAGA!”
Nothing ever causes damage when words are just tools that don’t have to adhere to reality. :/
Driving another 40 to 60 minutes to get to the next closest grocery store in rural America may actually change their minds. Remember, GOP voters are frequently very quick to change their tune when they are personally negatively affected by policy.
Wal-Mart is a multi billion dollar company. Their board has a fiduciary responsibility to maximize shareholder value.
Falling for jingo-istic sloganism and propaganda meant for the uneducated, shows a clear lack of competence. This is especially true in light of the fact that Donald Trump campaigned loudly about his intent to go nuts with tariffs:
An uneducated ignoramus has the luxury of being able to claim with sincerity that they didn’t understand how tarrifs work.
No such excuse exists with the board at Wal-Mart.
If I was a shareholder, not only would I be suing for breach of fiduciary responsibility, I’d be ask8ng for a criminal investigation.
The party of free markets.
That was never true. They hate small businesses.
