About a decade ago, Tesla rigged the dashboard readouts in its electric cars to provide “rosy” projections of how far owners can drive before needing to recharge, a source told Reuters. The automaker last year became so inundated with driving-range complaints that it created a special team to cancel owners’ service appointments.
It’s amazing what one person’s actions can do to an entire brand. For the first several years after the Model S release I was sure that my next car is going to be a Tesla. Now, I’m 100% sure that I’ll never buy one.
And for those of us that did buy a Tesla that chump has made it harder to get rid of it.
After working with telsa i can tell you, not buying one is the smartest move you can make.
Tesla doing more shady shit, shocker. I can’t believe 5 or 10 years ago I thought this guy was some kind of Tony stark. I’m thinking that back then he just had a better PR team to manage him, and now that he’s rich enough he just stopped giving a fuck.
What I don’t understand is, given his industries he is part of, why he is cozying up to the political right. As far as I know, they’ve always hated “hippy dippy” electric cars. And rockets are “nerd” shit. So the pivot is very strange. It’s like a gay club trying to attract straight people.
CEOs and the rich in general are dictators at heart. They get their way through threats and violence. They and the right-wing are two peas in a pod.
I’m pretty sure he doesn’t give a fuck about the underlying businesses, he only cares about clout chasing (cosplaying as dollar store Tony Stark) and making money, and his choice in industries reflects that: self driving cars and getting off world.
I don’t believe for one second that he actually believes in what he does, outside of taking over SpaceX to try to make a new
South African Emerald minecolony on Mars.Because a) he hates unions and the left supports organizing labor, b) he hates reflection and changing his behavior for others, another big thing on the left, c) he’s had a few instances where he’s been hurt and blamed the left, and most importantly d) he’s the same kind of internet troll as gamergaters
Maybe it’s a long game to well cybertrucks to people who want to own the libs, but it feels shortsighted. I seriously expected my next car to be a tesla but cant support this shit
The right likes rockets when they’re used for military and also to provide dominance in space. The major space industry states are Florida, Texas and Alabama. What they don’t like is when we use space to do climate science
Florida is literally only part of the industry because of their geographic location. It’s easier and safer to launch eastward over a huge ocean with the Earth’s rotation.
And the closer to the equator the better because angular momentum
He’s only doing electric cars to kill public transport, I bet.
There’s too much Musk obsession on this site
I’m tired of hearing about him too but unfortunately Tesla and Twitter are high profile companies. When they are in the news, he is unfortunately associated.
People act like Twitter ain’t shit, but they obsess over it.
Correction: people obsessing over how Twitter is shit.
Still the same sentence either way though
Literally not the same sentence.
Literally, no. Subject wise, yes.
Twitter ain’t shit - people obsessing.
Twitter is shit and so people are obsessing.Same thing. If it’s shit, ignore it and move on. Make your own Twitter. You never owned it, you have no right to claim it ever was or ever will be anything. You’re a dude looking from the outside in, whining.
“looking from the outside in”
Actually, no, I’m on the inside because there are certain people I want to keep up with on every platform because they haven’t transitioned out to Mastadon/Lemmy/Pixelfed/etc yet and may never. Doesn’t mean I give them significant traffic. I rarely if ever comment on T/X, and all promoters get autoblocked with browser extensions.
I’m minimizing engagement and benefit to T/X, which is still shit, and I have to manage it, but only until the few people I care to keep up with there move somewhere else.
Alright, I get it when people don’t care that Twitter changed its brand name or whatever, but are we going to ignore reports about electric cars that don’t work as advertised and the company trying to cover it up, just because we keep hearing a lot about the CEO?
News shouldn’t be treated as fads, not even by people who think they are overplayed.
Tesla’s secret team to suppress thousands of driving range complaints
The phrasing of the title had me thrown for a second as I wondered if the complaints were about the quality of the golf balls at Tesla’s practice facility(s) and how I missed knowing that Tesla had a golf division.
Curious how/if this will influence the recently released report saying EV batteries are performing better than expected when it comes to longevity.
