Not unexpected, really.

There is also not really any games that make the system worth buying. Especially at that price.

I was thinking I’d get one at some point when there is a good price drop/sale. But the way things are going with hardware, I think the switch 2 is not going to really be a success.

I wonder if devs are talking about just supporting switch 1 or both due to audience size.

What are you talking about? The Switch 2 has sold more units at this point in its life cycle than the Switch 1 did at the same point in time. Maybe there aren’t games that specifically appeal to you, but I have already played plenty of Switch 2 games that I feel made it worth the purchase. The price increase is shitty, and certainly makes it a harder sell. But it’s already a success.

I never owned a switch, but I will probably buy a switch 2. Because it offers more compelling features and games, and I figured they would upgrade all swtich 1 games to switch 2 specs once it launched, and they did.

Then again, the higher prices in general will put a damper on sales of all consoles. Esp as their pattern of sales over time was previously deepening on price cuts or HW upgrades every 2 years or so. I only bought a Ps5 after the slim came out.

I guess I’m referring to exclusives.

Even though it sold more than the switch 1 did at this point doesn’t mean that they will continue to sell at that rate.

        Hopefully I’m wrong.

Why would people care about exclusives if the game simply runs better on the Switch 2?

Obviously the concern with a price hike is that sales will slow but with increased costs to produce a unit I don’t see that Nintendo has a choice.

I think people care about exclusives because most gamers already have another system or pc. In my case, I have a steam deck.

I also only buy Nintendo games on consoles as I prefer pc gaming due to its backwards compatibility.

The WiiU also sold well at launch. Then once all the diehards got their console, it never sold meaningful numbers again.

The switch 2 has already outdone the WiiU (not much) but I’d be shocked if it sells even close to half as well as the switch 1 did. I’d guess it’d be more around n64 numbers.
