  • Attempting to get all protein requirements from peanuts

yep. I cycle between lots of different foods based on season, lifestyle etc.

I assume you are already taking the necessary precautions.

yea I prefer sprouted or fermented peanuts. You can ferment them with both lactobacilli like sauerkraut or with bacillus subtilis like natto.

Roasted when I’m in a hurry or travelling.

  • Dr. Chaffee says a diet needing supplementation is unlikely to be the ancestral human diet.

B12 is everywhere—in soil, untreated water etc. Modern agriculture depletes cobalt in the soil and our war against microbes destroy the bacteria that produce it.

Even the animals that you eat are fed B12 supplements. So carnivores supplement B12 too just indirectly.

I live near a forest with clean spring water and my B12 levels are normal on a wfpb diet without supplements.

  • I’m hard pressed to think how you can develop muscles without protein.

I agree that eating more protein will make you gain muscle faster. The size of your muscles determines the ceiling of strength output.

My examples concentrate on the skill aspect of strength which applies to most people. I believe you can bench 1.5x your bodyweight through deliberate practice. It can be more too depending on genetics and mechanics like muscle insertion points. Short people have an advantage in bench press.

  • Even elite athletes gained strength when they thought they were on a “fast acting steroid” and lost it immediately when they were told that it was a placebo.

I don’t really buy that hyper specific diets and protein are essential to strength. For instance inmates and manual laborers doing feats of strength which are equivalent to bench pressing 1.5x their body weight is quite common.
