Lived in and around DC basically my whole life. I have never once seen a “banoffee pie” nor would I be able to identify it or describe it.
Nevada: 😏
South Dakota and Minnesota: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Aww yeaaah Oregon sitting over here on the ONLY pie I can actually make. Mmm mm.
(Didn’t know it was that popular of a dish. Damn good, even if seriously ugly.)
Chocolate pie is a custard pie. fite me.
I have now learned that most Americans have incorrect preferences
This has gotta be bait
It is from a real huffpost “article” that I found, but yeah, it’s basically rage bait.
Yeah no hate on you OP :)
I figured it was either by someone outside the US or someone who just thought it was good conversation anyways.

I’m thinking too much about what a pie is and now all pie just seems fucking weird
This map is blatantly false
no kidding, they made “pecan” and “pecan” the same color!
I know a lot of people are complaining about the accuracy of… basically everything about this map.
But what really bothers me is that I feel with every fiber of my being like Pumpkin Pie and Key Lime Pie shouldn’t be in the same category as each other. They’re just not the same kind of experience. Regardless of who eats them when.
I don’t think sweet potato pie is as big as they think, but more to the point, I’m angry about it being included with “savory.”
Sweet potato pie
“Savory”
yeah, sweet potato pie is definitely not savory.
It’s easier to make a savory pumpkin pie.
Pumpkin pie or bust
Uniquely searched pies
cream pie
Are we sure this was for thanksgiving?
The lack of talk about shoofly pie really saddens me since its the best pie
I haven’t had it since I was a child, but even then I remember it being sickeningly sweet. Like diabetes in pie form.
Yes, it is the best pie! 🥧 Nice to meet you, lilith267. You are now my bestie.
I am honored to be friends with THE shoofly :D
agreed
though, my family in PA never makes them for Thanksgiving. I may request to help make one this yearwhat is it
Shoofly pie is a type of American pie made with molasses associated with Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine.
We went to an Amish community festival a long time ago and that’s where I had my first bite. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever had and it was unforgettable!
I been reading it as “shooflee”, Wikipedia suggests it’s pronounced “shoo-fly” 🤦🏻
Title is utter horseshit.
The map is only a measure of “unique searches” by people from that state on Google. Nothing to do with actual preferences, just what they searched.
Yup. No one is searching pumpkin pie. Either you’re buying it, or you know how to make it.
That’s exactly my thought. This list is probably closer to, “second pie we want to try”.
I search pumpkin pie for the same recipe every year. I just forget to save it.
Do you live in New Mexico?
Thankfully not!
I’ve never even fucking heard of the pie that is apparently the most popular in my state. I call bullshit.
The bullshit is that the title of the post and the title of the graph are very different. Just because it’s heavily searched recently would not make it a favorite. Favorites don’t have to be searched, you already have it written down on an index card from the 90’s. You copied it from your grandmother who got it off a pie tin in the 70’s.
yeah what the pity fuck is a “buttermilk pie”?
